3DEDRATS Light Show

On the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of the SLEX weekend, the Macquarie ICT Innovations 3dedrats logo will be projected around the East mall in Armidale. The logo is a tri-coloured rat image created from a physical template placed in front of a lighting source that has been pre-programmed to display a moving shape on the ground, nearby buildings and rooftops.

Also on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of SLEX, the 3dedrats rat maze game will be projected in the East mall in Armidale.  The DEHub logo, the EduOne logo and the MacICT logo will also be included in this projection.    The rat maze game is a pac-man style video game that can be played online at the same time at http://www.squarestorm.com/games/3dedrats.  Whilst this is being played online, it will be projected synchronically onto the road side facia of the building opposite the Courthouse, cleverly utilising the architecture of the building.  Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre and Matt Cabanag from the Macquarie University Faculty of Science have created the content for this video game projection.

As a follow up to the SLEX weekend, primary and high school students can enter the “Game On” Game Design Competition on the 3dedrats website at http://3dedrats.wordpress.com/sydney-macquarie-university-game-on-competition. Entries close on the 21st of November 2011.

Further to that, students can also enter a competition entitled “So You Think Your Robot Can Dance” at http://3dedrats.wordpress.com/sydney-macquarie-university-robot-dance-competition.  Entries close 2nd  December 2011.
